Description From Owner:

Pop. 750. In the Reg. Mun. of Waterloo on C. Rds. 5 & 17, 22 km. NW of Waterloo. Thomas Ransom and John Brown were the first settlers, in 1846.
The post office was opened in 1858 and named Linwood by a Mr. Hutton, a school teacher. The 'Lin' part of the name is from 'Iyn,' a Welsh word meaning 'pool.'
