Pop. 209. In Hungerford T., Hastings C., on the SE shore of Stoco L. and C. Rd. 13, 40 km. N of Belleville.
Stoco appears on an 1862 map and the name was approved in 1952 by the Canadian Board of Geographic Names.
The origin of the name may relate to Mississauga Chief Stougcong, said to have killed a Mohawk chief here and driven away his band.
